SETDA Announces Jonathan Yang
as Marketing and Communications Manager
January 12, 2024 (Washington, DC) – Jonathan Yang has been named Marketing and Communications Manager for SETDA, the principal non-profit membership association representing U.S. state and territorial educational technology and digital learning leaders. SETDA provides well-established forums for advocacy for policy and practice, professional learning, inter-state collaboration, and public-private partnerships centered on digital learning and equity.
Jonathan began his nonprofit career by leading recruitment campaigns as a Strategy and Outcomes Specialist for Girl Scouts Heart of Central California. Afterwards, Jonathan founded a community based organization called Hmongmentum aimed at building momentum in the Hmong American community by investing in aspiring leaders. This led to three national conferences across the United States, bringing together over 600 Hmong American college students and community leaders. Jonathan was also the Events and Marketing Manager for California Community Action Partnership Association, a state association of sixty community action agencies across California. He then went on to become Director of Communications for Teach For America California Capital Valley, where he was instrumental in crafting the narrative around their strategic shift to an alumni innovation region.
In his most recent role, Jonathan was the Public Relations Manager for the Union Gospel Mission of Sacramento where he stewarded a donor portfolio of more than $4 million dollars by managing communications through direct mail, email marketing, and social media content. With over seven years of professional nonprofit experience, Jonathan is committed to telling meaningful stories that impact the right audience on the most relevant platforms.
Jonathan graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Philosophy and a minor in Political Science.

Jonathan joined the SETDA team on January 8, 2024.
