SETDA Announces New Partnerships
Cohort of Startups Focused on Serving K-12 Education Needs
May 31, 2017 (Washington, D.C.) – The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), the principal membership association representing U.S. state and territorial digital learning leaders, announced today its fifth annual cohort of Emerging Private Sector Partners. These innovative education technology startups were selected through a competitive application process and will be introduced as a cohort at the upcoming Emerging Technologies Forum on June 24 and 25 in San Antonio, Texas. These Emerging Partners will engage with the SETDA state leaders, affiliates and annual partners over the next twelve months:

The companies invited to participate in this year’s cohort were selected from a pool of applicants based on their status as an emerging company, capacity to leverage technology to serve a need in PreK-12 or pre-service education, and their potential to scale on a state-wide and multi-state basis. The Emerging Partners program is designed to foster opportunities for startups to be seen and heard by state and national digital learning leaders. Throughout the course of the year, this program creates intentional, in-person and virtual opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue regarding national or state trends in K-12 and higher education, as well as products and services that states and districts need.
“Working with emerging companies is a vital part of SETDA’s Private Sector Partnership program,” according to Dr. Tracy Weeks, SETDA Executive Director. “This collaboration allows state leaders to have a first look at new technologies for education and it allows these growing companies to get in front of multiple states simultaneously and learn more about the needs across the country.”
“We’re thrilled that Level Up Village (LUV) has been selected as a SETDA Emerging Private Sector Partner and look forward to working with state and national education technology leaders to provide cutting-edge global education opportunities to even more students, while reinforcing the Four C’s of 21st Century learning in a global context,” said Amy McCooe, CEO and Co-Founder of Level Up Village. “Our goal is to lay the foundation for global awareness while deconstructing the common misconceptions students often have about people from different cultures. At a time when Global Citizenship is a high priority for schools, we are experiencing robust demand for our Global STEAM (STEM + Arts) courses, which have been delivered to more than 20,000 K-9 students in 20 countries around the world in the past four years.”
Over the next year, the cohort of Emerging Private Sector Partners will also have the opportunity to benefit from interactions with education industry experts via SETDA’s Channel Partners (http://www.setda.org/partners/strategic-partners/channel/), mentors from previous cohorts of Emerging Partners and SETDA staff.
