SETDA Names 2024 State Achievement Award Recipients

October 31, 2024 (Washington, DC)SETDA, the principal membership association of U.S. state and territorial educational technology leaders, announced the recipients of the State Achievement Award to recognize outstanding initiatives from SETDA state and affiliate members and their teams that address meaningful challenges in teaching and learning.

These awards were presented during the 2024 SETDA Leadership Summit this week in Arlington, VA. They celebrate the impact of these programs and projects, offering frameworks for other leaders to effect positive change in their states.

The SETDA State Achievement Awards program has five categories that align with SETDA’s priorities: Digital Content, Digital Learning, Equity of Access, Interoperability, and Professional Learning. This year’s awards were sponsored by ClassLink.

Here are the recipients of the 2024 SETDA State Achievement Awards:

  • Digital Content: The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education received this award for their project, Sustaining Progress in Access and Equity: EdTech Strategic Planning Guide (2024 Edition) and Edtech Peer Learning Cohort (PLC). This project provides district and school leaders with tools, resources, and self-assessments to tailor edtech infrastructure and educational content to local needs, impacting diverse schools statewide.
  • Digital Learning: The Indiana Department of Education was honored for their AI-Powered Platform Pilot Grant, which offers AI-driven tutoring and professional development across Indiana schools. This program empowers over 45,000 students and 2,500 educators, extending resources in AI and game-based learning, making Indiana the first state with comprehensive AI funding in classrooms.
  • Professional Learning: NYSCATE (New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education) received this award for their Online Professional Development for ALL Teachers in NYS initiative. The program supports digital fluency and AI use, providing over 120,000 hours of professional development, especially targeting high-need districts across New York.

“ClassLink is honored to support SETDA’s State Achievement Awards, celebrating the groundbreaking initiatives that drive meaningful progress in education. These programs are a testament to the power of leadership and innovation, inspiring state leaders nationwide,” said Rachel Van Aken, VP of State Initiatives for ClassLink.

“SETDA’s State Achievement Awards shine a light on innovative uses of technology to elevate teaching and learning, drive student engagement, and amplify educational outcomes,” said Julia Fallon, Executive Director of SETDA. “These awards not only celebrate creativity but also spark inspiration, encouraging others to explore and adopt transformative edtech solutions. By highlighting these achievements, SETDA aims to create a ripple effect across the educational landscape, advancing a future where technology empowers and enhances the K-12 experience for all students.”
