SETDA Honors Lisa Helme with the 2024 State Leader of the Year Award
November 6, 2024 (Washington, DC) – SETDA, the principal membership association of U.S. state and territorial educational technology leaders, announced Lisa Helme as the 2024 recipient of the State Leader of the Year (SLY) award. Last week, Lisa accepted the award during the 2024 Leadership Summit in Arlington, VA.
Lisa Helme, Student Pathways Division Assistant Director at Vermont Agency of Education, has been a steadfast advocate for educational technology since joining SETDA in 2021. Her leadership in cybersecurity and digital literacy initiatives, as well as her support for Vermont’s State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program, exemplifies her dedication to advancing secure and effective technology use in education. Known for her collaborative approach, Lisa consistently brings together educators, policymakers, and community stakeholders to drive impactful change across Vermont’s educational landscape.
“I’m surprised and honored to receive this award,” said Lisa Helme. “I am truly touched, as I hope to represent the many unsung heroes in edtech in my state and beyond. I want to thank the SETDA family for this recognition, and I look forward to celebrating another dedicated individual next year.”
