SETDA Welcomes Inaugural Cohort of Startup Partners

May 29, 2013 (Washington, D.C.) – The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), the principal non-profit membership association representing U.S. state and territorial educational technology leaders, announced today its inaugural cohort of education startup partners. These companies applied for and have been selected to participate in SETDA’s new Emerging Private Sector Partnership Program. This marks an important step in the implementation of the SETDA strategic plan by expanding the established SETDA partnership program beyond the existing program of Gold- and Platinum-level Private Sector Partners.

The companies making up the first cohort were selected from a pool of applicants based on their status as an emerging company, capacity to leverage technology to serve a need in PreK-12 or pre-service education, and their potential to scale on a state-wide and multi-state basis.

“Meaningful engagement with these startup and emerging companies afforded through our new program helps to ensure that state leaders charged with school reform and improvement policies and programs are informed by insights into the latest digital learning innovations,” stated Douglas Levin, SETDA Executive Director. “At the same time, these companies will benefit from being able to tap the unique insights and experiences of our members, many of whom have worked to support the meaningful integration of technology into teaching and learning within their states for years.”

The new Emerging Private Sector Partners [https://www.setda.org/web/guest/emergingpartners] will debut at SETDA’s upcoming Emerging Technologies Forum on June 21st in San Antonio, TX and engage with SETDA membership throughout the next twelve months.
