SETDA applauds Senate Approval of the Every Child Achieves Act of 2015

Washington, DC – (July 16, 2015) The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) commends the Senate for approving the Every Child Achieves Act, a bill reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. SETDA strongly supports the bill’s commitment to ensuring that teachers and students benefit from educational technology’s significant advantages. The Senate sent a strong signal today that teachers and students everywhere should have access to the technology, including digital content and open educational resources, required to help learners meet states’ rigorous college and career ready standards.

“SETDA is pleased that the Senate approved the Every Child Achieves Act and encourages both the Obama Administration and Congressional leaders to build upon this significant step to finalize the law without further delay,“ stated Lan Neugent, Interim Executive Director of SETDA. “Education leaders nationwide are looking forward to the opportunity to ensure better ways to support students in the digital age. Our students deserve the best resources available to be successful,” continued Neugent.
