SETDA Events to Showcase $2 Billion in K-12 Technology ConnectED Commitments

June 13, 2014 (Washington, D.C.) – The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA), the principal membership association representing U.S. state and territorial educational technology leaders, announced today the first in a series of new actions the association is taking to support the aims of President Obama’s ConnectED initiative. ConnectED is intended to enrich K-12 education for every student in America by leveraging the power of technology for learning, including through public-private partnerships with leading technology companies. To date, the President has announced that ten companies have pledged $2 billion in support toward advancing ConnectED goals. The SETDA work is designed to highlight these commitments and help ensure that students and teachers most in need of support benefit from these unprecedented offers of public-private partnership.

Today’s announcement includes:

• The hosting of a first of its kind public event on June 28, 2014 at 4pm ET – in conjunction with the 2014 SETDA Emerging Technologies Forum and adjacent to the 2014 ISTE Conference and Expo in Atlanta, GA – that will bring together representatives of participating companies and the U.S. Department of Education with educators for an overview of and dialogue about their commitments; and,

• The hosting of a public back-to-school webinar that will provide an update and further details on these private sector ConnectED commitments.

Participating companies include: Adobe; Apple, Inc.; AT&T; Autodesk; Esri; Microsoft; Prezi; Safari Books Online; Sprint Corporation; and Verizon.
