About Us
SETDA Board Elections
Do you want to make a difference in the SETDA community? Are you willing to be an enthusiastic SETDA advocate?
SETDA members who serve on the Board of Directors have the opportunity to develop and grow as leaders, cultivate new skill sets, and expand their network of peers, professionals, and community leaders. Board service is a commitment and a collaborative process, and an opportunity for professional growth.
We are dedicated to promoting diversity in edtech and on our board. We strongly encourage all qualified individuals to apply.
We look forward to the contributions of dedicated leaders who can bring valuable perspectives to our Board.
Board Representative Responsibilities
Boards are teams of committed and engaged volunteers who work together to govern the organization. The SETDA Board of Directors ensures the long-term health of the organization by overseeing strategic planning, policies, and finances. Board members are also expected to contribute meaningfully by participating in committees.
Board members are legally required to fulfill their fiduciary duties, which will require them to devote a significant amount of time to the organization. The time commitment for this leadership role is 6-8 hours per month, which includes attending board and committee meetings and regularly reviewing financial statements and meeting materials.
Open Board Positions
Three board seats are currently up for election; board members will serve three-year terms beginning January 1, 2026.
- At-Large State Member, 2 positions: These positions are open to persons who have been designated as a state voting member and have a strong record of contributions to the edtech community within their states.
- Emeritus Member, 1 position: This position is open to persons who are current emeritus members–those who have left or retired from state service and continue to be engaged in the field of educational technology.
Per the SETDA Bylaws, at-large board candidates must be designated as the state voting member to be eligible for candidacy.
