SETDA Issues Statement Remembering Candice Dodson, Executive Director
Washington, D.C. (July 24,2020) – It is with profound sadness that The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) announces the sudden death of its Executive Director, Candice Dodson.
Candice was an energetic, life-long educator working throughout her career to better educational opportunities for all learners. She led SETDA as the Executive Director since May 2019. Previously, she was an active SETDA member, serving as the Board Chair while she was the Director of eLearning for the Indiana Department of Education. Candice focused on advancing and expanding efforts to leverage technology to improve student outcomes based on her 20 years of experience in education in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher and assistant principal.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, membership and staff, I express our gratitude and great appreciation for Candice’s many instrumental and decisive contributions to SETDA and the greater educational community,” said Eric Hileman, Oklahoma City Public Schools (Chair, Emeritus Member). “We express our deepest condolences to the Dodson family.”
The SETDA Board is focused on supporting Candice’s family as they make decisions about service arrangements and opportunities to celebrate her life and legacy. The Board will announce additional details when available.
The Board is committed to continuing the mission of SETDA and is preparing a succession plan for SETDA’s leadership. Updates will be provided in the coming weeks.
