SETDA Announces Interim Executive Director

Christine Fox to lead organization starting September 1, 2020

Washington, DC – Christine Fox has been named Interim Executive Director of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA). SETDA is the non-profit membership association founded in 2001 to support U.S. state and territorial leaders in advancing education through effective digital learning policy and practice. The decision is part of a plan by the Board of Directors to find a permanent successor after the tragic death of Candice Dodson.

Ms. Fox has been with SETDA since 2004, most recently in the role of Deputy Executive Director. She brings a strong educational background and a core understanding of the organization’s mission and vision. In considering her role in this critical time for the organization, she offered the following thoughts:

“I am grateful for the opportunity to support SETDA during this time of transition, and to work in collaboration with the board, staff, members, and partners to continue our work while the organization secures new leadership. I remain committed to ensuring equitable educational opportunities for all learners and believe in the core need for quality professional learning for all educators. I so appreciate SETDA’s role as a key leader, especially in the recent, national adoption of remote learning and look forward to furthering our vision and mission for states and local school districts.”

“In this unprecedented era of remote learning, SETDA is uniquely positioned to develop and promote exemplary policies and programs for the educational leaders we serve,” stated Eric Hileman, SETDA Board Chair and Executive Director of IT Services for Oklahoma City Public Schools. “With Christine’s knowledge of the organization, her passion for excellence, and her dedication to action, she is uniquely qualified to lead us.”

“The Board of Directors is enthusiastic about having Christine continue her service to SETDA as Interim Executive Director,” said Doug Casey, Board Chair-Elect and Executive Director for the Connecticut Commission for Educational Technology. “She brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to this position, which will allow the Association to continue its momentum in supporting digital learning.”

The search for SETDA’s next Executive Director will begin soon via a select committee assembled by SETDA Board members.
