Student Engagement: Program Examples

Teachers need the professional development resources necessary to integrate technology into the curriculum. Over fifty percent of the teachers say that:

  • Technology has had the largest impact on their teaching and instructional support activities,
  • Technology helps them engage students in learning, and
  • That their lesson plans are richer and contain timelier, more accurate information because of their access to the Internet (Speak Up 2006).

If designing a new school, teachers would want interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, laptops for every student, use of communication tools to connect parents, students and teachers, and time for students to use technology everyday (Speak Up 2007).
