"The site’s goal is to provide state policymakers, staff and the public with information about the status of education policy in their state" (ECS NCLB Database Website).
The RACs are being coordinated by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. The notice sets forth the schedule and agendas of forthcoming live, real-time online conferencing meetings.
Section 203 of Title II of the Educational Technical Assistance Act of 2002 (TA Act) directs the secretary to establish 20 comprehensive centers to provide technical assistance to state educational agencies, local educational agencies, regional educational agencies and schools in implementing the goals and programs of NCLB. In preparation for the new centers, the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education established 10 Regional Advisory Committees (RACs) to advise the secretary by conducting an educational needs assessment of their region. In conducting these assessments, each RAC will seek broad-based input from key stakeholders in their region. The RAC Website will serve as the primary venue for the input of stakeholders in each region, including public commentary and written testimony and reports. The Website will give stakeholders throughout each region access to RAC deliberations and reports and a platform to present their views and submit reports or other information to inform the needs assessment.
