      EDEN EDFacts

January 27, 2012 - EDEN Data Collection
All data groups for educational technology will be dropped from the EDEN data collection for the 2011-2012 school year. Therefore, files N071, N117 and N162 and the data that is collected in them will not be collected, nor will this data be collected again in the foreseeable future. This is also true for DG524 from the 131 file, which will not be collected in SY 2011-12 or beyond. The complete file due dates list for SY 2011-12 can be found on the EDFacts web page, www.ed.gov/edfacts, under EDFacts System Documentation.

EDFacts Data Reporting Requirements
EDFacts Data Reporting Requirements are now available through the 2012-2013 school year at http://edicsweb.ed.gov/browse/downldatt.cfm?pkg_serial_num=4232. Thank you to Brett Hinton (AZ) for creating this Word icon reference for Educational Technology requirements based on the Attachment B-3 Data Groups.

EETT EDEN Proposed Reporting Requirements for 2010-2011 School Year
The USDOE has released revised reporting requirements for the Annual Mandatory Collection of Elementary and Secondary Education Data for EDFacts. The revised educational technology reporting requirements for the 2010-2011 school have proposed changes including; limiting reporting to LEAs that receive at least $25,000 in funding for the technology integration and personnel skilled in technology categories, changes to the computer equipment table and providing states the opportunity to report on levels of technology integration. To that end, SETDA is providing states with proposed comments, which include comments developed by the SETDA Data Committee during the original comment period and suggestions from several states during the current comment period. Please consider these comments as a reference for your state's submission. SETDA strongly encourages each state to respond to this data collection package as this is an opportunity to share your state's concerns regarding the validity, usefulness, and burden of collecting the data related to the EETT EDEN indicators.

Below are several documents for your reference:

Word icon EDFACTS Data Categories (Page 39)
Word icon EDFACTS Data Groups (Page 65)
Word icon Response to Public Comments (Page 58)

All EDEN information is available at:http://edicsweb.ed.gov/browse/downldatt.cfm?pkg_serial_num=4232. Comments regarding burden and/or the collection activity requirements should be electronically mailed directly to ICDocketMgr@ed.gov on or before July 14, 2010. Please be sure to indicate that your comments are related to the Annual Mandatory Collection of Elementary and Secondary Data for EdFACTS Collection Package: 4232.

EDEN EDFacts Open Comment Period
The federal register recently opened a public comment period for EDEN. Although the four ed tech data elements are not specifically mentioned in their targeted questions, they invite comments on all EDEN data elements. SETDA will submit comments and it is also critical for states to comment individually. There is power in numbers if we would like to influence change. SETDA's Data Committee will develop draft comments on all four EDEN data elements and we will be sure to share those comments as soon as possible. The deadline for comments is May 3, 2010. For additional details visit: http://edicsweb.ed.gov/browse/browsecoll.cfm?pkg_serial_num=4232 (see appendix D in the attachments section of the site).
