SETDA Applauds Presidential Budget Request for State Technology Grants to Improve Instruction & Personalize Learning

Washington, DC – (February 10, 2015) – The State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA) applauds President Obama’s inclusion of the Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT) program in the 2016 budget request. EETT will help build state capacity to improve instruction and scale up successful initiatives, provide professional learning opportunities for teachers and increased access to digital learning experiences for students. The following statements can be attributed to SETDA’s interim executive director Lan Neugent:

“The inclusion of state technology grants in the federal budget is an important move forward in providing direction, resources and accountability tied to our continuing efforts to provide digital learning opportunities for student learning.”

“SETDA encourages leaders in Congress and the Obama Administration to work together to support smart technology investments that can increase access and improve student learning to best prepare students for college and careers.”

“Coupled with the FCC’s recent dramatic increase in funding for school broadband and programmatic changes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the E-rate program, EETT supports equity of access, opportunities for state leadership, collaboration across states and professional learning for teachers to provide improved digital learning experiences for students.”
